Christmas is coming and I have a free gift for you!
As a frequent traveler, I’ve learned a few things about tech gear you need while trotting the globe. And, for you, my Distinguished Travelers (or friends and loved ones of yours who also love traveling), I have compiled a list of my 6 most useful gadgets. PLUS, read onto see how you can get your free bonus on one of these just for being one of my Distinguished Travelers! These are wonderful gifts to consider for the upcoming holiday season!
Skyroam Solis
This is a personal hotspot that can travel abroad with you to over 130 countries to help you stay connected. The best part? It supports up to 5 devices! You get 4G LTE WiFi almost worldwide, and up to 16 hours of battery life with a single charge! Use it all day while you are out and about sightseeing and touring. So, if the kids are with you – no problem! If you have to work and need a secure connection for your laptop and multiple devices – no problem! No switching out SIM cards on your cell phone. No international fees on your monthly statement. All 5 of us in my family can use the device while abroad from the pre-loaded cards instead of each of us having to pay the cell provider’s daily fee PER DEVICE. It’s a win/win. Check out the Skyroam Solis here and get 10% off.
Anker PowerCore 10000
Speaking of battery life, that takes me to number two of must haves while traveling. My beloved Anker PowerCore 10000. This baby can give me almost 4 charges on my iPhone on a single charge. On my last to trip to Italy for the GTT conference, my Anker made me quite popular among my fellow Travel Agency Owners and Tour Operators as the charger was passed from one to another while they tried to salvage what was left of their phone’s battery life to make it through the day. I’m pretty sure quite a few of these were purchased upon arrival back in the US. I’m telling you, this is a purchase you will not regret. The charge is lightning fast and I use it just as much daily here at home as I do abroad (when my kids aren’t trying to “borrow” it to boost their own devices). Traveling with a friend? Check out the Anker PowerCore 20000 with TWO ports.
Bose SoundSport Wireless Headphones
Nothing is worse than being on a flight and having to listen to someone else’s device. Don’t be that person. These are a great, high quality option that won’t break the bank. They easily voice pair with your Bluetooth and have up to 6 hours of battery life. So now you can listen to your audio book, music, or favorite flick while being considerate of those around you. BONUS: These are both sweat and water resistant making them great for working out.
Bestek Universal Travel Adapter
This is a non-negotiable for me when traveling overseas. It helps me know that my electronics won’t get fried while traveling abroad by using an inferior product (Been there. Done that.) You can plug in up to three devices, plus it also has 4 USB charging ports – that makes a total of up to seven devices you can have plugged in. It is for worldwide use with 1 EU power, and 3 international adapters for use in over 150 countries all over the world. I don’t leave home without it.
Kipozi Professional dual voltage flat iron with 1” titanium plates
Sorry guys, this one if for the ladies. The important thing to recognize here is that it is DUAL VOLTAGE. Why is that important you may ask? Well, after I killed my Chi flat iron in the UK I did a lot of research on the subject. It was a costly mistake, and please don’t make the same one by simply taking your hair care appliances from home and thinking you can just plug them into your adapter. Our US appliances run on 110 voltage, while the European power is 220. So basically, you’re asking your device to accept twice the power and not die. Yeah, that’s not going to happen. I now take this flat iron with me and have never had a problem with it in any country. So far it has been to France, Italy, and Slovenia. And, of course, I always plug it into my Bestek Universal Travel Adapter.
Luggage Scale
Last, but certainly nor least, a luggage scale. This small electronic is invaluable for any traveler checking luggage. As you know, there is a strict weight limit on checked bags when flying. I use this scale to ensure I'm not stuck at bag check trying to shuffle things into other bags, or worse, leaving items behind at the airport because I'm overweight. Well, my luggage, that is. And, for those of you Distinguished Travelers that book and deposit their next vacation within the next three months, I will be giving you a complimentary one as a thank you for your continued support and because hey, 'tis the season of giving!
I hope you and your loved ones have a wonderful holiday season. For those of your still looking for last minute gift ideas – these are my top picks. Our family is off for the holidays on a Southern Caribbean cruise so I will be taking many of these devices with me for our family to use. It is our last Christmas together before my oldest flies the coop and heads to college next year. It was a tough call on whether to stay home or take a vacation over Christmas. In the end, the kids have everything and anything they could possibly need. We didn’t want a bunch of stuff under the Christmas tree to be what they remembered about this Christmas. We are giving them precious family memories and experiences instead. Of course, we will still do stockings on board, and I’ve already packed up our room décor (oh yeah, our staterooms will be LIT, literally). Follow my holiday travels and let’s start planning your next getaway for 2019.
Because life is short. Stop dreaming. Start going.
